HARTFORD, CT – It was really cool hanging with bloggers from Connecticut and Massachusetts during the Makeup and Mimosa’s event which was held at the Place 2 Be Restaurant in Hartford, CT this past weekend. About 30 women gathered to sip bottomless mimosas, experiment with makeup, network and try really great food. The networking was great and all, but all of that hobnobbing was upstaged by the delicious food that that we had the opportunity to sample!!!
According to their website, the Place 2 Be is a breakfast and lunch restaurant that has based their entire brand and menu around the South End of Hartford. They believe that it was important to keep Hartford’s South End alive by embracing the history as well as the incredible diversity that has become the new culture of the South End.
So with that said, here is a small sampling of what is available on the menu.
The Nutella Coconut Pancake
The Morning Rooster Special
Not a fan of open faced sandwiches. I am a messy eater and the contents of open face sandwiches always land on my lap. This wasn’t the case here, however. This avocado toast, with eggs and bacon was absolutely delicious and practical. As you can see there was more protein on my plate than bread. I only added what I wanted on the bread and it was always big chunks that did not fall into my lap. I didn’t actually find this on their menu but it’s a great starter to start your foodie explorations at this restaurant.
The Place 2 Be is located at 615 Franklin Avenue in Hartford. Parking is kind of iffy (I circled the block twice and almost gave up before finally finding parking in front of the school that is a few yards down on Franklin Avenue). This is a clean, spacious restaurant that was fairly packed when I was there. The counter area is nicely designed and the rest of the restaurant looks like your typical diner. Don’t let the look of the space discourage you from trying the food, however. The food is really that good and is a great affordable location to do brunch.
DISCLOSURE: I received gratis/complimentary service at the Place 2 Be Restaurant which allowed me to share my experience with you. My experience might be slightly different from yours but my opinion is honest and was not influenced.
